Seven Shopify affiliate apps compared on what they cost once your program works, how they track sales, and how they pay affiliates. Ratings and pricing verified on the App Store.

Starting affiliate marketing on Shopify is not as simple as handing someone a discount code.
You have to know which sale came from which affiliate, and not from the email that went out the same morning.
You have to stop codes leaking onto coupon sites.
You have to credit an affiliate whose customer clicked on a phone and bought it three days later on a laptop.
And you have to pay everyone the right amount, on time, without running a spreadsheet you will get wrong by month three.
Shopify does none of that for you natively.
It stores UTM tags and ?ref= parameters on an order, which is fine for a marketing report and useless for paying people money.
It is last-click, session-based, and it ignores every click that did not end in a sale.
That is what an affiliate marketing app is for.
For the most part, the affiliate marketing apps on Shopify offer the same features.
They only vary in specific features as well as pricing per application.
Seven serious ones compete for the job, and as mentioned, they are priced on completely different logic.
Here is what each one does, what it costs, and how they compare side by side.
All ratings, review counts and prices were checked directly on the Shopify App Store on 3rd of September 2026.
Overview: 5.0 stars · 246 reviews · Totally free to use.

Affilitrak is free with no tiers, no monthly fee and no percentage of affiliate sales, and it carries Shopify's Built for Shopify designation, which is awarded against Shopify's own performance and integration standards rather than claimed by the developer.
Everything the other apps gate behind tiers is included:
Where UpPromote puts PayPal auto-payment on its $89.99 tier and BixGrow on its $49.99 tier, there is no tier here to reach.
The tracking answers the coupon-versus-link problem from the top of this article directly.
Its affiliate links apply the discount automatically on click, so a sale has two independent routes back to the affiliate:
Every other app makes you pick a side of that trade-off, and it matters because roughly 80% of affiliate referral traffic is mobile, arriving through DMs and link-in-bio where cookies are least likely to survive.
The mechanics are in our guide to tracking affiliate sales on Shopify.
Overview: 4.9 stars · 3,681 reviews · Free up to $3,000 monthly referral sales, then $29.99 plus 2%, $89.99 plus 1.5%, or $199.99 plus 1%.

UpPromote is the incumbent, and the review count is its strongest argument.
The app has nearly 3,700 reviews and it's honestly a depth of merchant experience nothing else here approaches.
It buys a large integration ecosystem, creator vetting with audience reports and authenticity scores, anti-leak discount links, and 24/7 live chat.
As for pricing, its free plan stops at $3,000 in monthly referral sales, and every paid tier stacks a percentage of referral sales on top of the subscription.
Also, the automatic PayPal payouts feature does not appear until the $89.99 tier.
So the moment the program starts working, your costs rise twice.
Once for the percentage and once for the tier you now need.
Compare that with BixGrow below, which charges a flat $19.99 for uncapped volume, and the gap is not about features.
It is about who absorbs the upside of your growth.
I've also talked to a couple of users who switched from UpPromote to Affilitrak and the reasons they switched remained the same.
They simply wanted to run affiliate marketing on Shopify either without any additional cost or without rising cost as the program scaled.
Because of this, we've also put UpPromote and Affilitrak head to head in our Affilitrak and UpPromote comparison for a better breakdown of which app is worth it for you.
Overview: 4.9 stars · 1,249 reviews · Free for 1 program, 50 referral orders a month and 30 affiliates, then $19.99, $29.99 or $49.99 a month.

BixGrow is the cheapest genuinely uncapped paid plan in the category, and unlike UpPromote or Refersion it never takes a cut of your sales.
$19.99 buys unlimited affiliates, programs and orders.
Tracking covers links, coupons and linked emails.
It combines affiliate and referral programs in one app, and multi-level marketing arrives at $29.99.
Two things to know before budgeting from the entry price.
The free tier is a trial rather than a plan, since 50 referral orders and 30 affiliates is a fortnight for a functioning program.
And automated PayPal payouts sit on the $49.99 tier, the same paywall pattern UpPromote uses, which means the plan you eventually run on is likely more than double the headline.
Overview: 4.6 stars · 889 reviews · Free, or $49 a month for Premium.

GoAffPro has the most generous free plan of any app here and is the only competitor in this list that matches Affilitrak on price.
Pricing above that is a flat $49 subscription, not a percentage, adding multi-level marketing, a portal on your own custom domain and bulk email.
The branded portal on the free tier is a real advantage and no other app on this list gives it away.
Where it trails is the rating, at 4.6 across 889 reviews against the 4.8 to 5.0 range the rest of this list occupies, and it does not have automatic PayPal payouts included, so plan on handling payments yourself.
Overview: 4.8 stars · 463 reviews · Free marketplace listing only, then $39 plus 3%, or $199 plus 2%.

Refersion is the most operationally serious app here.
Refersion pays by PayPal, ACH and bank transfer, and handles multi-currency.
If your affiliates are spread across countries where PayPal is awkward or unavailable, that matters more than any feature comparison, because an affiliate who cannot be paid does not stay an affiliate.
But you do pay for it.
Refersion's free plan is not an affiliate app at all, only a listing in its own marketplace, so a real program starts at $39 a month plus 3% of every affiliate sale.
That percentage is the steepest here, and it is the part that grows: on $10,000 of monthly affiliate revenue Refersion costs $339 a month, and $300 of that is the cut rather than the subscription.
Overview: 4.1 stars · 396 reviews · Free to install, 2.9% commission processing fee on automatic payments.

Shopify Collabs is Shopify's own creator tool, and its billing is the most elegant here.
Commissions are paid through your Shopify bill, so there is no separate payout rail to set up and gifting is handled natively.
It is built for creator partnerships rather than affiliate program management.
Also, commission structures are simpler than everything else on this list, there is no tiered commission logic to speak of, and at 4.1 stars it carries the lowest rating of the seven by a clear margin.
The 2.9% applies to commissions processed rather than to your sales, which makes it far cheaper than the percentage apps, but you are also getting far less program control.
Overview: 4.5 stars · 196 reviews · $249 a month plus 3%, or $899 a month.

Social Snowball is an influencer platform more than an affiliate app.
It also has:
It is also, by a distance, the most expensive option here.
$249 a month plus 3% of affiliate revenue means its entry price alone exceeds a full year on BixGrow's mid tier.
For a creator-led brand running real influencer campaigns that maths can work.
For a store that wants an affiliate program, it is paying platform prices for tooling it will not open.
Two numbers decide this for most stores: how merchants who already use each app rate it, and what it costs you once the program is producing revenue.
| App | Rating |
|---|---|
| Affilitrak | 5/5 |
| UpPromote | 4.9/5 |
| BixGrow | 4.9/5 |
| Refersion | 4.8/5 |
| GoAffPro | 4.6/5 |
| Social Snowball | 4.5/5 |
| Shopify Collabs | 4.1/5 |
Ratings tell you whether merchants are happy. They do not tell you what the app will cost you when it works.
| App | Monthly cost |
|---|---|
| Affilitrak | $0 |
| GoAffPro | $0 |
| BixGrow | $20 |
| Shopify Collabs | $29 |
| UpPromote | $230 |
| Refersion | $339 |
| Social Snowball | $549 |
The rest of the comparison comes down to three things the charts cannot show.
Who takes a cut of your sales:
What the free plan actually allows:
Where automatic PayPal payouts start:
Start by ruling yourself out of the general case.
If you pay enough US affiliates to owe 1099s, Refersion is the specialist for that.
If you are a creator-led brand running real influencer campaigns, Social Snowball is priced for that job.
If you mainly want Shopify-native creator gifting, Collabs is the simpler tool.
If none of those describe you, and for most Shopify stores none of them do, Affilitrak is the one to install.
It is the only app on this list that is free, uncapped, and complete at the same time.
GoAffPro matches the price but not the rating or the payout automation.
BixGrow matches the flat pricing but paywalls automatic payouts at $49.99.
UpPromote and Refersion match the maturity but charge a percentage of every sale your affiliates make, which is a bill that grows exactly when you least want it to.
Affilitrak is the highest-rated app in the category at 5.0, carries Shopify's own Built for Shopify designation, and puts tiered commissions and automated payouts on the free plan because there is no other plan.
It also solves the problem this article opened with.
Your affiliates will share one link, in a DM, with someone reading on a phone.
An auto-applying coupon link means that sale gets credited whether the cookie survives to checkout or not, and the affiliate gets paid without you touching a spreadsheet.
One last thing worth noting if you're just starting affiliate marketing on Shopify.
We noticed that across 1,178 Shopify affiliate programs, 61.3% never generate a single referred sale.
The app is rarely why a program fails. Recruiting is.
So choose the one that charges you nothing during the quiet months, and spend the money and the attention on finding affiliates who will actually sell.
